The Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (Atlantic Centre of Modern Art) is located on the old historic centre in the borough of Vegueta in the municipality of Las Palmas, on the island of Gran Canaria.

This museum is entirely dedicated to modern art and its principal goal is to strengthen the specificity of the canary art in the rest of the world, specially with the continents of Africa, America and Europe. Museum’s activities usually have an intercultural orientation.

The building where the museum’s placed received the Architecture National Award, it was designed by Francisco Sáenz de Oíza in order to maintain the original houses’ facades and main patio from the XVIII neoclassic style.

In its interior you’ll find a permanent collection of more than 2.500 pieces as well as many more temporary exhibitions. Every month there’s an new exhibition from a different author and different theme, usually from America, Africa or Europe.

The Museum offers you the chance to take part on a guided trip both for groups or individuals. Moreover, it also invites you to visit its interesting library, a shop, and a documentation centre open for public. The library and the documentation centre are also specialized in contemporany art.

It’s very important to highlight that you can also participate or simple assist one of their many courses and seminars parallel to their exhibitions.

Reduced fare (for numerous families, students, unemployed, groups, pensioners and retired) 2,50€

Children under 12, official tour guides, teachers and owners of youth card have free entrance.

This museum is free on wednesdays from 6pm till 9pm as well as on open days. New exhibitions on the 18th May (International Museums Day).
