El Charco Square is located on the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, on the north of Tenerife.
El Charco is one of the most important and lively squares on this city. This historic square has a quiet yet cosmopolitan square. Even though this square is located in the middle of the city the air you might breathe on this space is pure and relaxed.
According to an important investigator, the name of this square comes from the fact that on the beginning of the XVII century some puddles were formed by saltwater coming from underground tunnels from the sea.
These puddles were surrounded by stones and some fishes and shrimps lived inside.
