Elder Museum

The Elder Museum of Science and Technology is located near the Las Canteras district in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria.

This large museum is placed in the Elder Building which dates back to the end of the XIX century. It has over 4.500 square meters where you might able to see exhibitions, workshops, interactive exhibition rooms, children room, a greenhouse with a complete ecosystem inside and a wide screen cinema.
This museum as a notable interactive character, which is very clear through it’s motto “Forbidden not touching”.

It’s main goal is to serve as a communication bridge between the scientific language and the interest of the main audience to learn important data about science and technology.

This is also the main reason why there’s information adapted for any age.

In numerous occasions, on the weekends, this museum organizes several children and families’ workshops. Sometimes they present temporal exhibitions and other times they show off their own content.

How to get here:

To get to the Elder Museum it’s recommendable to rent a car in Gran Canaria and hear to the Santa Catalina de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Park (in order to get to the city and take the GC-3 highway). Once you get here it’s recommendable to park in the parking place on the Luis Morote street (parking price is approximately 1,30€ per hour)

It’s also possible to take the urban bus. To arrive here you should take one of the following lines 1, 2, 3, 12, 20, 21, 30, 32, 42 and 43 and descend on the Santa Catalina Park bus station

Schedule:

Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am till 8pm (11am till 9pm during summer). The museum is closed every monday and on the 1st January, 1st May and 25th December.

Price:

The entrances to the museum (including cinema and planetarium) cost about 5€ (3,5 € for under 18, over 65 or more than 15 people groups).
The price for the Robocoaster is 1€ per person per trip.
Children groups (3 to 6 years old) and birthday groups (from 10 till 30 children) pay a fee of 45€ per group.
