The Santa Ana Cathedral is easily spotted in the Vegueta Borough due to its twin towers. Its located in the historic centre of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the north of Gran Canaria island.

This was the first church built in the Canary Islands. It was built under straight control from the Catholic Kings after the conquest of Gran Canaria. Its construction started in the XVI century but this church wasn’t finished before the XX century with collaboration of many different architects and artists creating a fusion of three different styles under the same building: Gothic, renaissance and neoclassical.

In its interior, specially on the south wing (from where you’ll access the church) you’ll find a Sacred Art Diocesan Museum where you might see many sacred art objects, paintings and a collection of spanish sculptures.

There’s a lift located in one of its towers that might take you to the highest point of this cathedral, where you’ll be able to see some impressive views of all over the city. It’s something highly recommendable for only 1,50€

Nearby the cathedral you’ll see the Colón House Museum as well as other must-see buildings of this borough.
