Santa Cruz de La Palma is the capital of the wonderful island of La Palma, located on the East side of the island, near the volcanic crater of La Caldereta.

Santa Cruz de La Palma is a beautiful city, with lively streets, mostly steep, with seafaring tradition from which we highlight the Calle Real and its lively marine avenue.

This location has learned how to preserve its valuable testimonies from the past, leaving behind a set of notable civil and religious buildings.

You must visit its artistic-historic centre which presents building such as the Town Hall, the Salazar Palace, the Santa Catalina Royal Castle, the only example from the militar architecture.

Santa Cruz de la Palma also has interesting museums such as the La Palma Insular Museum, the La Palma Naval Museum or the Contemporary Museum.

One of the best times to visit this city is during the month of May as it has the Día de la Luz festivity. Every five years this city celebrates the Lowering of the Virgen de Las Nieves, one of the most attractive festivities in whole canaries that lasts more than a month. The next festivity years will be 2015, 2020 and 2025.
