Granadilla de Abona is a municipality encountered on the south of the marvellous island of Tenerife, on the Canary Islands near one of the most important touristic complexes on this island.

 

Granadilla de Abona, with its 155 square kilometers, is the third biggest municipality in Tenerife. Here you might find great natural and landscape diversity with the Cañadas del Teide and the Guajara Mountain (2.718m) on the north, the Atlantic Ocean with its volcanic cones Montaña Roja and Pelada Mountain, its great dunes fields on the south and a lovely ravine, La Orchila, with a valuable natural richness on the west.

Nowadays, Granadilla de Abona offers its visitors a wide range of possibilities and attractions that might come from the great beauty and natural enchantment of the old fishing populations of El Médano and Los Abrigos which present themselves as idyllic locations for the practice of different water sports, from wind surf, to kitesurf and triathlon. Moreover, this municipality also has an extensive range of trails, rural accommodations, adventure activities, a notable monumental richness on the historic centre as well as good restaurants, bars where you might taste some of the different specialities made with sea and land products.

Granadilla de Abona is a land of History and Identity as shown by the tools, clothes, models and pictures shown on the Granadilla de Abona History Museum. This municipality has many archaeological value remains in the Chiñama and Tagoror del Rey Caves.

Among its monumental heritage we should highlight the San Antonio de Padua Church, the San Luis Franciscan Convent, both surrounded by some endearing streets, idyllic for a long quiet walks while discovering the typical lifestyle of its peasants.
